Amaya Guevara Beristain
advocating for inclusion and diversity in the arts
Amaya Guevara Beristain was born in Boston, Massachusetts, and grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. After living in Spain, she currently resides in the U.S where she combines her experience as a bilingual and multicultural heritage in her artwork. Her experience living in a variety of countries and her own culture has allowed her to develop her voice as a storyteller. Her passion for storytelling is rooted in the idea of educating others about the issues of our world and inspiring change in our society.
Her passion for storytelling has led her to pursue a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Film and TV at NYU Tisch School of the Arts with a minor in History. Amaya is a director, writer, and editor with an interest in using stories to bring new voices and stories into the world. She served as the President of the Diversity Art Festival, which is a student-run festival that aims to celebrate the diverse voices of NYU students and advocate for inclusivity in the arts. She has also worked part-time creating promotional videos for the NYU Office of Alumni Relations as a member of the Forever Violet Team.
If she isn’t working part-time in film productions, Amaya is constantly developing her photography skills. She is passionate about nature and the impact that content creation has on our society. However, she would also be found watching classic Hollywood films like screwball comedies and noir films, which are both a giant inspiration to her. Additionally, she is a passionate advocate of superhero films. She believes that this type of content is key in inspiring change since it showcases the universal issues that are found in our world.
